First
Step is a drug and alcohol treatment program
for pregnant, post-partum and parenting women
and their children. The goal of the program
is to assist and support women in developing
positive parenting skills while learning to
live a healthy, drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle.
There are several levels of care for participants
including day treatment and residential.
Women
in the day treatment program attend group three
to five days a week.
For
women requiring a higher level of care, there
is a six- to nine-month residential treatment
program. Women live cooperatively with one another
and their dependent children while attending
daily treatment services and sharing in household
duties. The residential treatment program is
one of the few perianatal residential programs
in the State of California.
This
program is in collaboration with The Center
for Human Services, the Proposition 10 Commission,
Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery
Services and Stanislaus County Community Services
Agency. This program is licensed and certified
by the State of California Department of Alcohol
and Drug Programs.
