OUTPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR CHILDREN
AND FAMILIES
Sierra Vista Child & Family
Services provides mental health services to children,
ages birth through
14, who are experiencing emotional and/or behavioral
difficulties at home, school and/or in the community. Special emphasis is
placed
on early intervention with programs designed for children attending Head
Start and
Pre-School programs. Services include:

PARENT EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Sierra Vista is dedicated to helping parents develop positive parenting skills
and enhance family life. Parent Education Programs are offered throughout
Stanislaus County in a variety of locations including office sites, schools,
hospitals and family homes. Parent Education Classes offer parents alternative
tools to assist in managing challenging parenting situations and to develop
positive parent-child relationships, including natural consequences, communication,
building healthy self-esteem and stress management. Children's Skills Building Groups, offered concurrently,
provide a fun environment in which children learn
and practice social skills, problem solving skills,
decision making skills and anger management skills. CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION
A special treatment program is available to children and families who are affected
by child abuse and neglect. Parents receive parent education and intensive
counseling to help break the cycle of abuse. Children receive individual
and group counseling to help heal the wounds and increase their personal
safety.

HOME BASED COUNSELING SERVICES
Home Based Services is a family focused, community-based
program whose purpose is to provide intensive
in-home services to children at risk for out
of home
placement. Counselors work with the child and extended family to help alleviated
difficulties and find solutions for problems. Services include crisis intervention
and school and community intervention. PAYMENT INFORMATION
Services are funded through contracts with Stanislaus
County Departments of Mental Health, Social
Services, Medi-Cal, Healthy Families Insurance,
client
fees, United Way and City of Modesto. These services are available at
no
cost to children and families receiving Medi-Cal or Healthy Families
Insurance. For non-Medi-Cal/Healthy Families
recipients, a sliding scale fee is used. |
